Bikirbecha Collective
What Is the Collective?
A peer community of LGBTQ mental health professionals from Orthodox and religious communities working to improve access to competent mental health care and support one another in this specialized work.
Through annual retreats, monthly consultations, professional roundtables, and social gatherings, we create space for practitioners who share these unique intersectional experiences to build community, collaborate on solutions, and sustain their capacity to serve this population.
How We Do This Work
Annual Retreats
Multi-day gatherings bringing members together for professional development, personal connection, and community building
Monthly Consultations
Case consultation groups where therapists can discuss complex clinical work and receive peer support
Professional Roundtables
Discussions on emerging clinical issues, best practices, and the intersection of religious identity and mental health
Social Gatherings
Informal opportunities to connect with peers who understand the unique experiences of being an LGBTQ mental health professional
Why Join the Collective?
•Professional Isolation: Many LGBTQ therapists in Orthodox communities work in isolation. The Collective provides connection with peers who understand your unique experience.
•Clinical Support: Access peer consultation on complex cases involving LGBTQ identity, religious community, and family dynamics.
•Professional Growth: Learn from other experienced clinicians navigating this specialized niche.
•Sustain Your Capacity: Self-care and community support are essential for preventing burnout in this intense work.
•Make an Impact: Contribute to conversations about improving mental health access for an underserved population.
