Frequently Asked Questions

We screen all therapists to ensure they have experience with LGBTQ clients, knowledge of Orthodox communities, and do not practice conversion therapy. However, therapy is personal, and you still need to screen therapists for yourself to determine if they're the right fit. See our About Our Referral List page for details on our vetting process.

Keeping it behind a short entry page protects both you and our therapists. Many specialized clinicians prefer not to appear on fully public directories, and it prevents automated data harvesting and spam. You do not need an account: you answer two quick questions, and you are in. No email, no password, nothing to remember. Ready to get started? Open the referral list.

    Nope!

Not necessarily. Our directory includes therapists with various personal backgrounds. We require that they have knowledge of Orthodox communities and experience working with LGBTQ clients, and do not screen or ask for current religious practice or identity. If this is important to you, you can find out more by reading the bios of individual therapists. You can also ask therapists this during your initial screening call or email with them.

We have advisory and clinical teams with people with a wide range of personal and professional expertise, including rabbis, business people, and LGBTQ identifying individuals. While some mental health organizations may have a rabbinic board, we do not have a rabbinic board or rabbinic oversight and final decisions are made by mental health professionals.

Yes. Accessing our therapist directory is completely free. There's also no fee for therapists to join our network. Individual therapists set their own fees for sessions, and many accept insurance or offer sliding scale rates. You can filter by insurance provider and see cost information on each therapist's profile.

Please report it through our Contact Us page. We take all reports seriously and will take immediate action to investigate. Therapists who we have reason to believe are not a good fit for our clientele will be removed from our list.

We work with any organization that helps advance our mission of improving mental health for LGBTQ individuals from Orthodox backgrounds. This includes JQY, Eshel, Kesher Families, and other LGBTQ Jewish organizations. See our Resources page for a list of community organizations we recommend.

Once accepted, create your clinician account using the same email address you applied with — that links the account to your profile automatically. Then you can edit it from the "My Practice" page. We have a step-by-step guide that walks you through the entire process, including how to update your information and toggle whether you're accepting new patients.
